Summer tips

Hello dolls I hope that you are all doing well and  that you are having a great day . In today’s blog post I will be giving you some healthy summer tips . Some which are quite obvious some which might not be that obvious.
Summer is the time to relax by the beach, have fun with friends and families , visit places and much more however it is important to keep these tips in mind.

Sun cream
The first and most obvious thing is to apply suncream!! The UV rays are quite high and so harmful and in order to stay safe in the sun it is important to at least use a lotion which is of SPF 30. The higher the better of course . The sun is at its worst between 10 am and 4pm so if you are planning to stay at the beach between those hours, apply suncream every 2 hours and wear a cap and wear a pair of uv protected sunglasses! Not a lot of people know this but one can easily still get tanned when applying loads of sunscreen without getting burnt .

Water
Drink huge amounts of water!! Not just in summer but during the whole year however during the hot summer months, the heat and sweat can easily leave one’s body dehydrated. It is important to drink about 8-9 glasses a day for our body to function at its peak performance. Adding a slice of lemon is very beneficial as it works as a detox to one’s body and skin! A lack of water can also make you want to eat but in actual fact one's body would be seeking for a glass of water ! don’t let you mind trick you ;)

Exfoliate
Exfoliating during the hot summer months is very important due to the increase of dead skin cells on our body. One can either buy exfoliating products or you can make your own by using oatmeal. I personally use the Pampered shower smoothie which is exfoliating and refreshing and for a face product I use the simple exfoliating wash.

Olive oil
Olive helps in moisturising your body in summer! It is important to apply it after exfoliating and before you go to sleep for soft skin. Olive oil also soothes sunburns by reducing the painfully reddened areas over your body. Simply, mix olive oil with an equal amount of water until it becomes emulsified and gently apply to the reddened areas.

Exercise
Stay fit and eat healthy don’t let the hot weather stop you from exercising! Work out indoors or join a gym with friends to make it more fun and challenging. Swimming is also a very good exercise. One can easily burn about 350 calories in 30 minutes by doing a full body work out – that includes a breaststroke and a backstroke.

That is it for this post ! I hoped that you guys liked it and found some information interesting J I will talk you guys next week !

Thin Tea Review | Does it actually work??

Hey dolls. Today I am going to be talking about a detox tea called Thin Tea. Now this is the first detox tea that I've ever tried so I don't really have anything to compare it to but I wanted to share the overall experience and to tell you if it does what it claims to.
This post is not sponsored and my friend and I bought the tea ourselves to try it out, mostly out of curiosity as it was continuously popping up on Instagram.

There are two teas - the first one is a detox tea, which is what you have with breakfast.
Ingredients:- Organic Fennel Seed, Organic Nettle Leaf, Marshmallow leaf, Organic Juniper Berry, Organic Dandelion Root, Organic Rose Petal.

The second tea is the fat burn blend which you would have before dinner.
Ingredients:-  Organic Peppermint, Olive Leaf, Dandelion Leaf, Hawthorn Leaf & Flower, Coleus Root, Organic Cinnamon, Ginger Root.

You can either pick a 14 day detox or a 28 day detox. I decided to go all in and try the 28 day one.

This 28 day tea retails for $60.90 although at the moment they do have a discount and they are selling it for $59.90. A good tip is that if you decide to try it with a friend you can get the besties pack and like that by splitting the price you get a couple of dollars off automatically and you get 2 tea infusers with it too.
By signing up you can also get 20% off your order.

I really like that it is natural, caffeine free, gluten free and even dairy free and most importantly it does not contain any laxatives! This is extremely important as laxatives are harmful to the body.

When it comes to taste, I'm not usually a big fan of any kind of green tea, but these teas actually taste okay, although I do think the morning one tastes better.

The first thing that I definitely noticed was less bloating, which is such a huge plus and just with that you automatically feel better. It does claim to reduce bloating and it doe actually deliver results in this regard.
I did lose some weight, but you definitely have to put in some effort. If you eat junk food and do no exercise at all whilst doing this detox I doubt it would be effective.
But a good combination of eating quite healthy and doing some sort of exercise, at least 15 minutes daily will definitely give you a good boost if you are looking to lose any weight.

Something I also noticed especially at night was that I found myself not snacking as much/at all after dinner as I sometimes do.
In terms of energy I can't say that I saw much of a difference but this does depend on the persons schedule in my opinion.

Have you guys tried any detox teas before? And if so did they actually work?
Let me know in the comments below
I hope you found this post helpful and I will talk to you next time!

Xoxo,
Fran

Two low in calorie recipies

Hello guys ! I hope that you are doing well. In today's blog post I will be sharing with you 2 easy and fun recipes to make!! The first one only takes around 25 minutes to make but the second one takes longer - only a teeny bit longer until you get the hang of doing the patties, you will soon understand what i mean by this don't worry, continue reading and you will find out ;). They are also both very low on calories.

Baked eggs with spinach
This recipe is so simple yet so mouth watering. It is also very healthy due to the intake of spinach.

For this recipe you will need:
(Serves 2)

15g of butter + a table spoon of butter
125g frozen spinach
salt and pepper ( optional )
1 teaspoon nutmeg ( optional )
2 eggs
50g Greek yoghurt ( plain )

Procedure:

1)First start by preheating the oven to 180C. You will also need 2 ramekins, they are basically bowls which are resistant to oven heat.Grease the surface of the ramekins with butter and place them on a baking tray.
2)Place the spinach on a pan and cook it according to the packet instructions, usually 9-11 minutes. When done, drain well the spinach and leave it aside to cool. Once cooled, chop into small pieces. It is extremely important to drain and squeeze the water out of the spinach!
3)Heat the 10g of butter in the same pan and add also some salt and pepper unless you prefer to add the seasoning in the end or both. Stir the nutmeg and when done remove the pan from the heat and add and stir the yoghurt.
4)Divide the mixture into 2 ramekins and press down in the centre to allow space for the egg to sit on.
5)Carefully crack the egg into both ramekins and if you'd like you could add now more salt and pepper. Back for about 15minutes and enjoy

Tuna patties - to make 8

What you will need :
200g tuna
450g cooked and cooled mash potatoes
6 finely chopped spring onions
2 tbsps chopped parsley leaves
salt and pepper
1-2 tbsp olive oil

Procedure:

1) Place all the ingredients in a bowl except for the olive oil which will be used later on. Stir well and divide into 8 portions. Shape each portion into a round patty .Don't worry too much about the shape, it's the taste that matters the most after all!

2)Heat the olive oil into a frying pan. Stick to medium heat nand cook the patties for 5 minutes on each side.( you may need to divide the batches into 4 and 4 if they do not fit into one pan)

When done serve with some green veggies :)

I hope that you guys liked this blog post and if you guys want i can also start making more low in calorie recipes and even sweets and deserts!
I will see you guys next week with another blog post.

Love,
Sherxoxo

Color Correcting For Beginners | color wheel, what each color is for, what I use, how to do it

Hi everybody, welcome back. Today I am doing a post all about color correcting. I got inspired to do this post, when my friend was asking me how she can cover redness on her face, a couple of days ago. I helped her find the right product and then I thought of doing this post for anyone else who is interested in color correcting and doesn't know how, or what colors to use.

The first thing I want to mention is the color wheel. This basically explains everything - so whatever color you want to get rid of, you just look at the opposite side of the wheel and that will be the color you use to cancel it out.

Before color correcting, it is important to cleanse and moisturize your skin as well as use your primer. Keep in mind that you are adding an extra layer of make up when color correcting, so start with a clean base to avoid ending up with make up that looks too cakey !
This is something that should be done anyway to take care of our skin.

Now I am just going to be going over each color, to explain what does what, and what you can use each one for.

Orange - Cancels out blue undertones, under eye darkness, hyperpigmentation or veins. This is great for light and medium to dark skin tones. If you have a very dark complexion you might want to consider using red instead of orange.

Green - Neutralizes redness - great for covering pimples.

Purple - Neutralizes yellow tones. Covers age spots and bruises as well. You can also use a purple setting powder instead of a concealer/corrector to brighten your skin.

Yellow - Brightens and evens complexion, covers blue under eyes, neutralizes purple tones and even sun spots.

Salmon/Peach - Cancels out blue, green and purple. Great for fair-medium skin tones. You can also use this under your eyes instead of the orange.

Pink - Cancels out any dullness or grey tones. You can also use a loose powder in this color to add it on top of your concealer to brighten your under eyes.

White - Highlight. (cheekbones, brow bone, middle of your nose, cupid's bow)

When it comes to color correcting, even though I mentioned all of the colors you do not have to use all of them on your face. Just look in the mirror and see what you really need, instead of using extra unnecessary product.

As I already said after cleansing and moisturizing your skin, use a good primer all over your face, use a concealer brush to add whichever color/s you think you need to use to color correct and after that add foundation. Make sure to use a light hand when blending in your foundation so the color corrector doesn't lose it's place. You can then continue with your usual make up routine.

The palette that I use to color correct is the Make Up Revolution Ultra Base Corrector Palette. As I just mentioned you probably won't need all of the colors, so you can definitely buy them individually instead.

I have the Santee Super Blendable Concealers in the green and purple colors too, which I got from the website Shop Miss A for only $1 each and they work pretty well as well.
The difference that I find between the Santee correctors and the ones from the Make Up Revolution palette is that the Make Up Revolution ones are creamier and easier to blend than the Santee ones.

This is going to be it for this post. I really hope that you guys enjoyed it and found it helpful, or that you learned something new. Let me know if you want more of these kind of informative beauty related posts. Have a great Sunday and I'll talk to you guys very soon!

xoxo, Fran

Easy and affordable diy's !

Hello dolls J In today’s blog as I had mentioned in last week’s post I will be sharing with you four different diy’s. Two of which I have created during the year and felt like I should share it with you guys and the last two which I made in the last couple of weeks. I hope that you like this post as I really had fun making these diy’s.

The first diy is pretty simple yet so cool. What you will need for this diy is a glow in the dark nail polish which I purchased from Essence for a very good price and a poster with writings on it. Simply, go over the writings with the glow in the dark nail polish twice and let it do its magic at night time J.

This diy is also very easy and very affordable. For this diy one will need a magazine with pictures, scissors and painter tape. Start by first drawing heart shapes on the magazines, then use your scissors to cut the heart forms. Fold the hearts symmetrically and stick them on the wall using painter tape and voila done. What I did instead as a substitute I used heart shaped sticky heart shapes instead of using a magazine which also made my wall look more outstanding but do as you wish.

For this diy you will need a pillowcase J I chose the colour purple as it matches my curtains but any colour will do J , you will also need a hot glue gun and pompoms.  Use the hot glue gun to stick the pompoms by placing them directly on the pillowcase. Press the pompoms slightly for a couple of minutes to allow them to stick well to the pillowcase and that’s it J easy as that .

This diy is more time consuming next to the others above but it was so fun to make and I loved the end results ! So for this diy you will need another pillowcase ( I went with a black pillowcase this time) different coloured yarn, a needle, scissors and more pompoms. So for this diy one can either make yarn pompoms or else do what I did. I only used a bit of yarn and stuck the yarn to the ready made pompoms which I bought from a local shop. Create the yarn pompoms a cardboard or a fork. Using a fork is so much easier in fact I switched after the first round from using a cardboard to a fork. For small pom  poms, wrap the yarn around the fork for about 20 times while for fuller pom  poms wrap the yarn for about 60 times.  Cut the yarn and hold the wrap in place. Cut another piece of yarn ( 7cm long is about right) and thread it through the bottom of the fork from back to front. Pull the thread from underneath the wrap and back over the top until the ends of the yarn meet. Tie them together and remove slowly the wrap from the fork and pull tightly the knot. Eventually the wrap will begin to curl, take your scissors and put them under the loops created. Cut the loops and cut any extra yarn which is sticking out.

As I mentioned before, I only used a small amount of yarn therefore I had to stick a pompom to the yarn using a hot glue gun.
Last step to complete this diy is to pass the yarn through the needle and thread it onto the pillow case twice and secure it with a double knot . Keep repeating this process to complete your diy J

I hope that you guys liked this post !! Let me know in the comments below which one is your favourite diy . Until next time !

Love,
Sher xoxo

10 Life Lessons I've Learned From Grey's Anatomy

Hey dolls, as you can tell from the title today I am going to be doing 10 life lessons I've learned from the TV Show Grey's Anatomy. I am pretty certain that there are more than 10, but if I do more we will be here forever. I am super excited to be doing this post as this is one of my favorite tv shows ever. The amount of relatable and inspiring words on the show is one of the reasons why I love it so much ( aside from the good number of McHotties running around the hospital, but you know that's besides the point haha :P )

( Also before I start, I want to give credits to the owners of all the edits, photos and gifs which I put in this blog post. None of these edits/photos/gifs are mine - I found them online whilst looking for quotes to go with each point)

1. Everybody makes mistakes

This is something we must always keep in mind because we are all human and no one is perfect and sometimes we will do things that will hurt other people, and make mistakes, but we have to forgive ourselves and not be too hard on ourselves because it is the only way that we can move forward.

2. Say 'I Love You' , Did You Say It?

This is from one of my favorite voice overs ever in the show  by Meredith Grey in Season 5 :

Tell the people you love, that you love them and never take them for granted, because you never know what tomorrow holds.

3. Everything can change in an instant

I think this is very connected to the previous one - knowing that we shouldn't take anything for granted because things change so quickly.
In the show they work in a hospital, so everything is continuously changing and shifting.

4. Let People In

I think this quote explains it all. It may be hard to trust people sometimes, but fencing yourself in will only make you feel miserable. If you are lucky enough to have people around that that love you and trust you, let them into your life.

5. Forgive

How many times did the characters in the show forgive one another, or their patients? Living in anger towards another person is pointless and will only make us bitter. Being able to forgive is one of the greatest qualities one can have in my opinion. It is in this way that we can be happy and grow.

6. Do not settle for less than you deserve

Stand up for yourself and believe in yourself enough to know what you really deserve.

7. The Pain Will Go Away

The pain may seem unbearable now but with time, day by day it will start to hurt a little less.

8. Life Goes On

Growing up is inevitable and every start has an end, because time moves on and will not wait for anybody; there is no pause button. One of my favorite quotes is by Ellis Grey : The carousel never stops turning. You can't get off.

9. Everyone Needs Their Person

That one person that will always look out for you no matter what, that you can trust and go to them whenever you need someone to listen or be there for you.

10. Dance It Out

Every now and then it is important to let loose, and let go of all of your worries to be in the moment.

I really hope that you enjoyed this post. Let me know what you think and comment below or message me on my social media if you are a Grey's fan yourself. Can you believe that now we have to wait for so long until we have a new episode to watch?
I hope you have a great week and that you are enjoying your summer holidays if they've already started. I'll talk to you guys next Sunday.

xoxo, Fran

Free and fun things to do this summer !

Hello dolls,From today onwards I will be posting a blog post every Wednesday while Fran will still be taking over on Sundays. We decided to do this since it’s summer for both of us and we have more free time and therefore more exciting posts will be coming your way In today’s blog post I will be giving you some free and fun ideas to do this summer !! Yes it is possible to have fun while not spending any money. In this blog post I will be sharing with you guys some outdoor activities and indoor activities that you can do.

  Free events nearby
First, start by looking up for free events which are going to take place in your local or city nearby. Many different communities nearby hold night parties, festivities, fun runs and much more during the summer months. Check online or on newspapers to get the details !

    Hiking/walking
This can be easily done and its not only enjoyable and free but also good health wise, both physically and mentally. Walking is free and walking in nature alone or with friends is also very relaxing for one’s mind set. Search online to choose your preferred destination and discovering places nearby that you haven’t visited yet. Take pictures of beautiful moments that you enjoyed and afterwards show them and share them with your  friends and family.

      Picnic
Grab some snacks, games, blankets and go and enjoy some peace and quiet in the countryside or in a park. You can either go alone or with friends and regarding food one does not have to spend a lot of money to have a great time.

Volunteer and help out
Volunteer and give a helping hand in your community. Not only would you be making a good deed by helping others but also the satisfaction that is followed is worth it.

    Movie nights
Invite friends over and have fun . Watch movies together, play board games, make awesome diy’s together.

   Spa day at home
Instead of going to a real spa, spend a little time transforming your own bathroom into a spa and enjoy pampering yourself !

  Redecorate your room
I find it quite enjoyable and fun to redecorate my room, leaving it with a new fresh look . One does not need to buy new furniture or decors but can easily make some cute decors using crafts. In next week’s blog I will be sharing with you guys some cute diy’s which I have made !

     Window shopping
This is basically tied up to the above one. Instead of buying things why don’t you do them yourself ? I love window shopping because I get easily inspired to make things and also leave your  credit card and money at home !

I hope that you guys like this post, quite different from the other posts. Also credits go to Fran for the amazing pictures which she took whilst we went hiking together .
Get excited for next week’s blog post ! and if you do have any favourite free activities do share them down below !

Talk to you guys next Wednesday :)

Love,
Sher xoxo
