8 Tips To Stay Healthy and In Shape

Hey dolls and welcome back to our blog!

So we are already coming towards the end of the first month of 2016 and I don't know how all of you are doing with your New Year Resolutions if you have made any, but I was kind of failing at one of mine. I was all motivated to 'get fit' and 'eat healthy' towards the end of 2015, so in order to try and get some of that motivation back I was thinking of some tips that I find work for me to try and get back in shape. Then I thought, why not make a blog post about it and share them with you guys. So, enough with the long intro and let's jump straight into it. Here it is , 8 tips to stay healthy and in shape:

1. Set small and realistic goals:- Basically if you don't usually work out, you are not going to become fit overnight and if you do not usually eat so healthy it is difficult to make a transition from one day to another. Start by setting small goals and always adding on once you have achieved something. For example start by working out at least twice a week, and once you get used to that add another day or two to that. Or if you eat too many sweets (I am so guilty of this!) start by cutting down on the sugars and replacing them with healthier options.

2. Eat only when you are hungry:- A lot of the time I find myself snacking on crisps or other unhealthy junk because I'm bored studying or because I'm watching a Tv show/movie, even if I am not hungry at all. Cutting out that extra snacking can make a huge difference since you are avoiding those extra calories which you do not need and that the body stores as fat.

3. Healthy Mind, Healthy Body :- I think that this is one of the most important points because when people think of 'Health' many times what comes to mind is the physical body, when in reality mental health plays such an important part. Take time to get off social media and to set aside those study books and really take some time to clear your mind - go jogging or on a hike, take a bath, do some yoga or stretches or anything else you find helpful for you. And this brings me to my next point..

4. Pamper Yourself :- Sometimes you just gotta de-stress and take care of yourself, so every now and then treat yourself and find time to relax-- like taking a bath, or using all of your favorite skin care products or buying something new ( a dress, a pair of shoes, some makeup..).

5. Prepare Beforehand :- If you know it is a work out day tomorrow, plan out your day from before to make sure that you leave enough time to work out. Or, if you know you are going to be too busy to prepare a healthy meal have some ideas to be prepared or even perhaps prepare the meal the day before to find it ready.

6. Move Your Body :- Exercise is such an important part to staying healthy and in shape so definitely try to find time to work out at least 3 times a week or else just take 15 minutes out of your day to stretch or just put on your favorite music and dance it out. ( Dancing it out is a really awesome way to stay in shape because it is so much fun and you get to burn calories too! )

7. Drink Lemon Water :- Apart from the fact that we should all drink about 6-8 glasses of water a day, lemon water is also a good addition to your morning routine because it has so many benefits. This is something I actually do every morning - just squeeze some lemon juice into your favorite mug and add warm (not boiling!) water to it and if you prefer you can also add some honey for a better taste. This actually helps digestion and acts as a detox and also clears your skin amongst many other benefits.

8. Don't get rid of all of the junk food in your cupboards :- What I mean by this is that a lot of people when they are trying a lifestyle change or they want to lose weight they will decide that it is best to not buy any junk food at all, whatever it is that they really like or usually crave. The probability is that the next time you go out, or you are at party or a friends' house and you find a cupcake or donut or whatever it is you love, you are going to want it so badly and probably binge on it after having cut out the sugar from your diet completely and suddenly. My suggestion would be to keep a cupboard or drawer where you keep only these treats so that when you feel like eating something you know that you are going to have to open that drawer and sometimes you actually take a step back. (*Disclaimer* - not everyone's mindset works the same, some people actually prefer cutting out instead and it might work for them, so this is simply a tip that I find works for me)

So this is it for this post. I hope that you guys enjoyed it and have found it helpful in some way. If you have any tips of your own feel free to share them in the comments below.
